We install professional grade low voltage landscape lights to illuminate wide walkways. The reason we often select this type of fixture is that we are able to space the lights out over an extended space and not create a ‘runway’ look. These lights are placed in strategically important locations where they can provide the most light to the walkway and ambient light to the landscape items in that area. For instance, for this Marblehead family, we installed the lights between various perennials and spaced them evenly over the entire length of the flagstone walkway that we installed.

This natural stone retaining wall was built with all of the stones mortared together, but it was built to look like a ‘dry-laid’ wall. Thus, very little of the mortar is visible on the face of the stones.

As you begin to visualize how to improve your property and fix a section of a retaining wall, you should make sure that your repair is going to enhance your whole property. This North Andover family had a retaining wall that was no longer structurally sound and they asked us to design a new front entrance way. After listening to their goals, we decided that it was best to natural, rustic look of the property and the neighborhood.
We excavated the existing wall and the base to the wall, while preserving many of the natural stones as we would be able to use most of these stones in the new structural retaining wall.

Pre-existing retaining wall
As we excavated, we ensured that we made the excavated area wide enough for us to properly build the back of the wall and install the proper amount of drainage stone and pipe.

Please stop by booths 836 and 838 as we will be there displaying some of our natural stonework, a paver patio, segmental walls, pillar and some of our low voltage landscape lights.
Thank you and if you would like any information regarding what we will have with us on display or would like to schedule an appointment for us to meet with you and discuss your goals please either call us at 978.317.9875 or email Tony at Tony@Artistic-Landscapes.com.
This is what our booth looked like when we prepared it in a garage (wait until you see the new look firepit – the stones in this initial design were out of scale to the booth space, thus we purchased different stones and they will be unveiled on Wednesday.

Last week, I attended seminars by Unilock and Techo-Bloc and an awards banquet by Unilock. These are two of the leading manufacturers of concrete pavers and segmental wall blocks.
As a Unilock Authorized Contractor, I found the Unilock seminar to reflect Unilock’s goals and provide terrific in-depth information regarding paver installations and the impact of polymeric sand. There was a lengthy segment that discussed many of the benefits that will be achieved by the use of permeable pavers.
The Techo-Bloc seminar was also terrific and Techo-Bloc has introduced a couple of terrific new pavers. As a Techo-Pro, I was very impressed with two of the new pavers and look forward to recommending them if they become appropriate for someone. They also allocated a portion of the day to discussing the benefits of permeable pavers.
Last Thursday night, I attended the Unilock Authorized Contractor Awards of Excellence event that was held at the DCU Center in Worcester. This was a very nice night. It was exciting to see some pictures of one of my projects scroll across the Big Screen in the category of Most Dramatic Before and After Landscapes.
Thank you and if you would like any information regarding new pavers or would like information on how to clean pavers or seal pavers please either call us at 978.317.9875 or email Tony at Tony@Artistic-Landscapes.com.
