Are lights that can have colors worth the cost?

Posted in Landscape Lights, Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 11:47 AM by Administrator

We are often asked if the premium to have light fixtures that can be programmed to be any color (30,000 colors or so) is worth it.  We have seen that the lights are normally programmed to be a shade similar to white (if we are illuminating a bluestone area then the lights might have a little blue tint and if we are uplighting evergreens then the white light will have a green tint) but with a nominal tint that accents the items being illuminated.  The difference between the tinted white and a white light is noticeable when you see the 2 options (each homeowner decides on the value of the difference).

We have been helping homeowners create party and holiday themes in addition to their everyday tinted white.  The party themes are very exciting and suggest that everyone is going to have fun because we program festive colors.  The following are 2 pictures of the same stone work that we built for an Ipswich family.  The first picture shows the stonework with the tinted white while the 2nd picture reflects the stonework with the party theme.

Natural Stone Wall in Boxford

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized, Winter Landscape at 6:34 AM by Administrator

A Boxford family had stone walls that were collapsing/bowing and were a hazard and safety concern.  We dismantled those walls and rebuilt the walls with the same stone.  The area behind the new wall now has drainage stone and landscape fabric.  This is a picture of the walls that we built so that this family will once again have safe access to their basement.

Deck support columns uplit for Ipswich family

Posted in Landscape Lights, Uncategorized, Winter Landscape at 6:29 AM by Administrator

There are 3 support columns near a patio that we built for an Ipswich family.  These columns support a large deck that the family accesses through the doors from the first floor of the house.  We accented these columns by uplighting each column.  In addition, we installed 2 lights up under the flooring of the deck so that these 2 lights can cast a moonlight effect onto the patio.  Here is a picture with me looking directly at the light fixtures.

2 unit Condominium in Newburyport with a private backyard oasis

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Plants, Pruning, Uncategorized at 6:46 AM by Administrator

Two Newburyport families live in a 2 unit condominium house and wanted a relaxing backyard oasis that each family could enjoy.  Thus, we installed various plants and created a peastone walkway and patios.  The peastone areas were outlined with reclaimed bricks.  The plant design was done by a local landscape designer whom we have worked with a few times.

The backyard for this 2 unit condominium in Newburyport was planted and created with a natural free flowing design

Firepit in Newburyport

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:45 AM by Administrator

We built the natural stone firepit along with all of the segmental walls and pillars so that this Newburyport family could have a private, intimate gathering area with their friends.  The pillars were built large enough to act as serving tables.  Custom cut limestone was used to finish the tops of the firepit, seating bench and the top of the bench.  The pavers are by Techo-Bloc and they are the same style but we used different color pavers in the firepit area than we did in the main patio.
