This family wanted their Revere, MA backyard to be a gathering place for the adults and their friends as well as a place where their 3 children would enjoy sitting with their parents. With these goals in mind, we designed a patio with features that impresses many people.
- A stone planter serves as a raised bed for some of the family’s vegetable plants;
- an oversized firepit that will allow marshmallows to be roasted (the side outside of the patio allows for the children to roast their marshmallows without bending towards the fire) and warmth and ambience for the parents;
- a segmental stone sitting wall serves as a cooking area as the grill is placed next to the pillar and is backed by the wall,
- a pillar that is taller than normal so that the top of the pillar serves as a food prep station as the top has been sealed and the pillar has a bottle opener attached to it.
This is the what the backyard looked like just before we started with the stonework and backyard patio.

We, Artistic Landscapes, installed Unilock pavers and segmental stones to create the patio, firepit, sitting wall, pillar and raised planter. As a result, their backyard now looks like this.

This dwarf Japanese Black Pine is another specimen evergreen for this Quincy family. This plant should thrive in this location next to the Atlantic Ocean as we have installed a drip irrigation system to keep the roots of this evergreen moist despite the plant being planted in a full sun location with natural stone stonework next to it.

These Quincy homeowners wanted their night landscape to be just as incredible as their plants as they have been planting and maintaining many specimens as well as plenty of perennials, but at night time everything just became invisible. We designed a landscape lighting system that uplights many of these wonderful plants and installed a few brushed nickel lighting fixtures along their front walkway. The combination of the brushed nickel fixtures and brass fixtures that were installed in the mulched areas amongst the plants have provided this family the look that they wanted.

We, Artistic Landscapes, built this paver patio for a family in Georgetown, MA in 2012. We built the main part of the patio with Unilock’s Richcliff pavers in Dawn Mist color and accented the patio with a border of Copthorne pavers (they look like bricks). This patio is secured with edge restraints around all of the sides that are not adjacent to the house and the spaces between the pavers have been filled with polymeric sand.

We planted this highly ornamental evergreen that the homeowners’ selected at a local nursery. This is a perfect specimen between their front landscape and their move private backyard. This evergreen will remain narrow (all of the branches are on the same plane – espalier growth habit) and compliments the stonework and color of the house and should thrive despite the growing conditions of being next to the Atlantic Ocean.

We, Artistic Landscapes, designed and installed a landscape lighting system for a family in Methuen, MA. Our client’s goal was to highlight the trees in their small but fully planted backyard. Their backyard is secluded from neighbor’s and is there own private area with mature trees, water fall that can be seen from many rooms within their home.
This is now what the family sees when they enter their driveway.

This is how their Methuen backyard looks.

We, Artistic Landscapes, planted an English style garden for this Ipswich, MA family in 2010. The foliage and plants have continued evolving over the last four years and are peaking in October and November. Here are some of the beautiful combinations of Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’ (Japanese Forest Grass) with Witchhazel and other perennials.

On the other side of the front walkway is a shade garden which includes a few Itea ‘Little Henry’ shrubs. The foliage is still in perfect shape and has turned a beautiful red/purple color.
