Brick Walkway in Newburyport

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:46 AM by Administrator

We built this brick walkway for a Newburyport family so that they could safely access their backyard from the street. The prior walkway was broken asphalt so we removed all of the asphalt and base materials prior to building this brick walkway. The bricks were repurposed from an old patio and the edging for the walkway was done with cobblestones.

Goshen Stone patio in Newburyport

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:40 AM by Administrator

This is a follow-up to the posts where we discussed building this patio but we never shared the final pictures. As you will see in these pictures, Goshen Stone varies in color and size. Some of these stones were 8′ long and 3′ wide. A stone that we installed near the center of the patio is about 5′ – 6′ long and wide.

This view of the patio shows that it is a permeable patio as the joints were filled with 3/8″ peastone. Larger loose stone serves as the mulch between the fence and the patio.
This individual piece of goshen stone is approximately 6′ long and 6′ wide.
This individual piece of goshen stone is the same length as the fence (8′) and it is approximately 3′ wide.

Paver Front Walkway in Ipswich

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:32 AM by Administrator

This Ipswich family was ready to update their front walkway from the tired bricks that have been there for many years. We helped them understand their options and since they wanted larger format pavers, we installed Unilock’s Westport pavers in the Bavarian color. Everyone is extremely pleased with how well the Bavarian color goes with the color of the house. We were able to maintain the interesting garden beds that welcome you to the front of their home.

This picture shows the original front walkway.

This picture shows the front entrance with Westport pavers. We did not have a paver accenting the perimeter of this walkway as the accent became ‘a little too busy’ given all of the angles that are in the walkway.

Hot Tub Installation

Posted in Masonry, Plants, Uncategorized at 6:15 AM by Administrator

We were hired by this Newburyport family to build the base for which their hot tub will be installed. Because of the weight of the water that will be in the hot tub, the base has to be reinforced and solid. We had discussions with their electrician and hot tub representative as to what they wanted us to provide for a base and where the electrical conduit needed to be so that the electrician could wire the hot tub. A segmental retaining wall was built to allow the base of stonepack to be compacted and level. We also included a layer of geotextile to further help support the hot tub.

Outdoor Kitchen

Posted in Landscape Lights, Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized, Winter Landscape at 6:40 AM by Administrator

We finished this outdoor kitchen by creating a new sitting area in between the lawn and the kitchen. The contrasting colors of the sand and beach pebbles work very nicely against the stonework that we built for the kitchen cabinets. The porcelain tile floor provides of wide planks of wood grain tiles that are made to be installed outdoor. The kitchen counters are granite slabs.

Raised counter on outdoor kitchen

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:37 AM by Administrator

We designed this L shaped outdoor kitchen for the stainless steel cabinets and refrigerators. Once we had agreed that the L shaped cabinets would work best for the flow of the kitchen, we decided to raise the the corner area between the cabinets as that added another element of interest. We raised the corner and built the stonework to emphasize this element.

Built-in Refrigerators in an outdoor kitchen

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:33 AM by Administrator

This family wanted an outdoor kitchen with storage drawers/shelves and plenty of refrigerator space. We designed the kitchen to include two refrigerators. The refrigerators are manufactured by Kalamazoo Gourmet. The refrigerator on the left has shelves for cans, bottles and food storage while the refrigerator on the right have shelves for wine bottles (the shelves actually allow the wine to be stored lying down).

In addition to the refrigerators, we installed various drawers and shelves in stainless steel cabinets that are manufactured by Napoleon. Having a cabinet door with shelves was helpful as it allows them to store some of their taller items, including a blender.

Built-in Grill in Outdoor Kitchen

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:55 AM by Administrator

This family wanted an outdoor kitchen with a built-in grill. We built the kitchen with stone masonry and stainless steel cabinets. The cabinets are manufactured by the grill company, Napoleon. A family who we built a patio for last year loves their Napoleon grill so we looked into them and they have quality materials. The cabinets have a soft close and the insides have stayed dry even after the rain.

The 4 burner grill (plus the high heat burner at the back) have worked very well. The heat is pretty consistent and the family has been using the grill to cook homemade pizzas on a regular basis. The Napoleon grill has lights inside the grill which helps them see the food that they are cooking. The knobs are illuminated blue when the grill is not on and the knobs turn red when the grill is on.

Natural stone walkway in Groveland

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:47 AM by Administrator

This Groveland family likes the look of large natural stones set into the landscape. Thus, we built this walkway with large, irregular shaped natural stones as the walkway from their driveway to their backyard. The area between the stones is likely going to be planted with lawn or groundcover after the house construction is completed.

Timber steps replaced with granite steps

Posted in Masonry, Pavers, Uncategorized at 6:24 AM by Administrator

This Byfield family has had timber steps with a crushed stone walkway between the timbers. They told us that they were tired of slipping on the timbers when they are wet and the crushed stone is too low to serve as a regular walkway so they wanted this replaced.

We designed the walkway to have solid granite steps while the walkway portion was built with Unilock’s Westport pavers. We were able to keep the new walkway and steps within the original footprint eventhough we added a 3′ deep landing up near the door.
