Rest In Peace - my best brother Mike Hurley

Many of you have called or texted me and I have not been able to respond. Others have left messages asking us to do work for you. I have all received your calls but I have not been able to respond. Jesse, Kevin and Brendan are working according to the schedule that I had prepared prior to 3:00 Wednesday afternoon. I will get back to you but it will not be as soon as you are used to hearing from me. Jesse, Kevin & Brendan might show up and do the work that you requested even if I don't call you back as I will talk with them during the day, every day.

As for the reason that I have not been able to respond, I am incredibly heart broken that my younger brother died on Wednesday at just 48 years old from an apparent heart attack in his sleep. His three kids are all under 16 and are trying to help us get through this week. He was my only brother and a great person. He did everything for his family, loved taking his kids to their sports teams (between the 3 of them they may have been on 10 teams). My sister and I along with my mom and his wife, Marisa, are all in disbelief.  He was such a great person that the impact of his death is impacting his 2 closest friends as much as it is to his own family.

Many of you know him because you have gone to Fenway Park and either bought hot dogs from him or in the last 5 - 10 years bought beer from him. He ran up and down the stands at Fenway Park for 34 years. The Thursday before he died turned out to be a rain out but he gave a behind the scenes to tour to my sister and her husband, two cousins who were visiting from Ireland (Joan and Mike Shine) and Julie & myself. Everywhere we walked, people would yell out his name, smile and wave to him. Everyone loved him. Many of you have texted me pictures of you buying a beer from my brother. I have those pictures and memories and love them.

Funeral Arrangements for my brother are as follows:

Wake at Vertuccio Smith & Vazza at 262 Beach Street in Revere this Monday (the 25th) from 4:00 - 8:00.

His funeral is Tuesday, the 26th, at 11:00 am at The Immaculate Conception Church at 133 Beach Street in Revere (the same church that our parents had their wedding and my brother and Marisa had their wedding).

The two girls go to a private high school while his 13 year-old son would like to go to St. John's Prep next year (you know I like the idea of him going to my alma mater).
