Playset Area

This Rowley family wants a swing set for their young son but they did not have a level area in their yard. They hired us to build an area for their future swing set. Even if you haven't finalized which swing set you will buy, we can prepare an area so that it is ready to go. We find that a 25’x 25’ space is normally large enough for a swing set, climbing wall and slide but it is best to get the actual size and layout of the swing set that you want in case you need a larger area.
If you are wondering how do I build a playset area, we recommend reviewing the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines related to Public Playground Safety Handbook for advice. These guidelines will not guarantee the safety of all users of your playset but it is what we use as guidance. I recommend doing your own research to determine if there is better advice and recommendations on how to ensure everyone’s safety.
We always build playset areas with a drainage layer of ¾” crushed stone (over 20 tons of stone for this project) before installing landscape fabric on top of the crushed stone. This family selected Certified Playground Chips (approximately 23 yards of chips) as the surface for their playground area. The picture shows the playground area that we built and is now ready for when they select a swing set.
