What do I do now that my brick steps are dangerous?

This Topsfield family had two sets of brick steps that became dangerous. Some of the bricks had chipped while other had disintegrated and both sets of steps needed to be replaced. We were able to reuse the base/footing beneath the existing steps because the existing steps had not shifted. But, we installed new flashing against the lumber frame of the house prior to building the masonry steps.
We built the new steps with reclaimed granite as the risers (the vertical part of the steps) while the treads (the part where you step on) were built with gray granite treads that are 2” thick. The granite steps are all mortared together and we expect this family to get many years of maintenance free enjoyment from their new steps.
