What do I do now that my bluestone walkway is crumbling?

This Ipswich family had a beautiful bluestone walkway but itwas crumbling and became a tripping hazard over the last few years. Because alarge percentage of the bluestone pieces had layers flaking off, it did notmake sense to just replace the problematic bluestone pieces. We removed thebluestone, many of the pieces just fell apart as we were picking them up byhand, and disposed of those stones. We were able to move the walkway a few morefeet away from the house because all of the existing plants had grown into thewalkway. By moving the walkway away from the plants, we will be able to keepthe plants pruned so that they stay off of the walkway while staying full offoliage and beautiful.
In addition to removing the bluestone, we dug out the base as we prefer not to build a new walkway on a base of stonepack (stonedust and crushed stone combination). Plus, by moving the walkway then some of the new walkway was going to be installed where there was lawn. We did install a permeable base for their walkway. This family chose Unilock’s Westport style paver in the Steel Mountain color. The blend of colors within Unilock’s Steel Mountain color was able to provide them with a color scheme that is similar to the prior bluestone.
